Mayfield fought the law and the law won. . . again

Another, and perhaps the final, chapter in the NASCAR/Jeremy Mayfield saga was closed on Tuesday afternoon as a federal judge dismissed Mayfield's lawsuit in NASCAR.

NASCAR announced via press release statement on Tuesday afternoon, "The U.S. District Court's ruling is a powerful acknowledgment and affirmation of NASCAR's rule book, and its ability to police the sport."

The soap opera-like controversy first started when Mayfield tested positive for methamphetamine early on last season in NASCAR-administered drug test. The test result led to Mayfield being suspended by NASCAR, resulting in the veteran driver having to sell several assets, including the Sprint Cup Series race team he had recently started.
