Chase field not official, but pretty much set

The time is almost here—the time to make up or shut up as as far as being in this year’s Chase for the Sprint Cup is concerned. This really only applies to a few drivers, as 10 have already clinched spots heading into this weekend’s race at Richmond International Raceway—the last chance to climb into the top-12 to be a championship contender.

Greg Biffle and Clint Bowyer currently find themselves in the top-12 but its a little to soon to breathe a sigh of relief, especially for Bowyer. Biffle, on the other hand, only has to finish 42nd or better in Saturday night’s race to make sure he has a spot in the Chase, no matter how well or poorly anyone else finishes.

Chances of Bowyer remaining in the top-12 to make himself a Chaser are pretty good too, just not as good as Biffle’s chances are looking right about now. Bowyer will be in the Chase if he finishes 28th or better at RIR on Saturday night, regardless of how anyone else finishes.
