Roush Fenway Looks to Finish off Strong Run to Chase

Three Roush Fenway Cars look to wrap up Chase berth within next three races

CONCORD, N.C. (Aug. 19, 2010) – With only three races remaining before the cutoff point for the 2010 Chase for the Sprint Cup, Roush Fenway Racing has three cars solidly entrenched in the heated battle for one of the 12 spots that will ultimately decide this seasons’ NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion.

Carl Edwards (6th), Matt Kenseth (9th) and Greg Biffle (11th) each have a good shot at earning a berth in this season’s ‘playoff,’ with Edwards and Kenseth each posting outside shots to lock up a spot as early as this Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway.

This season, Roush Fenway will look to place three or more cars in the Chase for the fifth time in its seven years of the format’s existence, and a look at the remaining tracks ( Bristol , Atlanta and Richmond ) left before the Chase field is decided, appears favorable to the Roush Fenway organization. All three are tracks where Roush Fenway has excelled, including Bristol where the organization has won 10 times in Sprint Cup action; with four of the wins coming via the efforts of Edwards and Kenseth.

Edwards leads the trio with a combined five wins at the three tracks, while Kenseth has led 1,123 laps of Cup action at the three venues. Biffle’s 14th-place average finish at the tracks is tops of the three Roush Fenway drivers.

Roush Fenway has placed 18 entries inside the Chase field since its inception in 2004, including a record five of 10 entries in the 2005 field. Kenseth qualified for the Chase in each of its first five seasons, before narrowly missing the field last season. Edwards has qualified on four occasions, while Biffle has made the field three times.

Former Roush Fenway drivers Mark Martin and Kurt Busch are the other two drivers who have qualified for the Chase under the Roush Fenway banner; Busch and the No. 97 Roush Fenway team went on to win the inaugural Chase for the Sprint Cup in 2004.
