Leffler gets 3-race probation for Nashville incident

NASCAR announced Tuesday that Nationwide Series driver Jason Leffler will be placed on three weeks of probation for a rule violation he committed during the April 3 race at Nashville Superspeedway. Leffler’s probation will run until April 28 of this year.

Leffler tagged James Buescher in retaliation for an incident earlier in the race when Buescher got loose underneath Leffler, turning Leffler into the outside wall. NASCAR parked Leffler for the remainder of the race.

Leffler was found to have violated Section 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing – aggressive driving) of the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rule Book.

The penalty is consistent with that levied on Carl Edwards following the Sprint Cup race at Atlanta on March 7. Edwards wrecked Brad Keselowski with six laps to go in retaliation for earlier contact between the two in that race. NASCAR put Edwards on a three-race probation, which will conclude April 14, after this weekend's events at Phoenix.
