DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Zac Brown Band, the GRAMMY nominees for Best New Artist whose platinum debut album 'The Foundation' (Atlantic Records) produced the No. 1 hit “Chicken Fried,” will perform at the 32nd annual Budweiser Shootout on Saturday, Feb. 6 at Daytona International Speedway. The Atlanta-based group will perform a pre- and post-race concert, in addition to the National Anthem.
Zac Brown Band – which consists of bandleader Zac Brown, bassist John Hopkins, violinist Jimmy De Martini, guitarist/organist Coy Bowles, drummer Chris Fryar and multi-instrumentalist and song writer Clay Cook – will perform three songs prior to the Budweiser Shootout on the Pre-Race Stage as well as the National Anthem, all of which will be carried live on FOX Sports.
After the checkered flag waves, Zac Brown Band will perform a 60-minute post-race concert from the Sprint FANZONE Entertainment Stage.
Sprint FANZONE/Pre-Race access holders will be able to view the pre-race concert from the tri-oval grass while all ticket holders will have access to the post-race concert, which will start in the Sprint FANZONE approximately 30-minutes after the end of the race.
Zac Brown Band, whose latest No. 1 hit is “Toes,” are nominated for three GRAMMY Awards including Best New Artist, Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals and Best Country Album. In 2009, the group captured two fan-voted honors – Top New Vocal Group at the Academy of Country Music Awards and the USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year at the CMT Awards for “Chicken Fried” In addition to four Country Music Association and three American Music Award nominations in 2009.
“We’re excited to add the Zac Brown Band to racing’s tripleheader day at Daytona International Speedway,” Track President Robin Braig said. “With three events and now the Zac Brown Band, race fans are going to have a jam-packed day of entertainment as NASCAR kicks off the new season at its most storied venue.”
In addition to their Budweiser Shootout pre- and post-race concerts and National Anthem, a special $74 ticket package designed around the Zac Brown Band has been created that includes a Budweiser Shootout ticket, Sprint FANZONE/Pre-Race access and VIP area access to the Zac Brown Band pre-race performance.
The Budweiser Shootout, NASCAR’s season-opening event, is part of a racing tripleheader on Saturday, Feb. 6. Kicking off the schedule at 1:05 p.m. will be Daytona 500 Qualifying Presented By Kroger, which will set the front row for the 52nd annual Daytona 500.
The Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards is set for 4:30 p.m. and will be highlighted by the stock car racing debut of Danica Patrick. Capping off the day will be the Budweiser Shootout, which will feature the top stars in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series battling for a coveted Daytona victory in an All-Star race format.
