Does My Age and Sex Really Matter? I'm A NASCAR Fan!

Being a 17 year old girl most would think I have crushes, but I’ve never been the kind of girl to go crazy over someone who I will never have a chance with. Granted, I do find certain celebrities cute, but I never understood the fascination people have with them. 

A negative point about being young and a fan of anything is certain people don’t see you as someone who could like something for what it is; but for who’s in it. The people who have these opinions about young fans get their thoughts from the girls who let their crushes move over into obsessions, and ruin it for those of us who actually like the sport for what it is. I have seen girls and guys alike only watch NASCAR, football, or like bands because of the guys, or girls involved in it. It’s not just young people who do this either, I’ve seen women as old as 50 “fan girl” over Joey Logano online. 

For me, I enjoy watching NASCAR because of all the strategy involved, how the relationship between a crew chief and a driver needs to be close to perfect in order to make the right decisions to have a winning or top 5 car. I do have to admit, it’s definitely a plus to have something nice to look at, but you don’t see the drivers for multiple hours in between start and finish. How is there a point to watching for the good looking guys if you can’t even see the good looking guys?

Maybe I’m just not your average girl, but I say if you’re going to enjoy something enjoy it for what it is. Pay close attention to your driver; or in some cases drivers, and watch what it takes for them to get their car where it needs to be.

Logano continues Kentucky dominance (NNS)

SPARTA, Ky.—Joey Logano remained perfect in the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Kentucky Speedway, winning the Meijer 300 from the pole on Saturday night.

Logano had lost the lead on two restarts late in the race but was able to power back to the top spot each time.

The first was with 44 laps to go when Mike Bliss took the lead, but after an extended caution period, Logano got back out front on Lap 169 of 200.

The second came when Brendan Gaughan charged around the outside after a restart on Lap 175, but Gaughan slipped off Turn 4 a lap later, and Logano again regained the lead.

Logano then held off a late charge from Carl Edwards to win for the third time at Kentucky.

Logano, 20, has won the pole and the race every time he has raced at the 1.5-mile track. The victory in 2008 was his first in one of NASCAR’s national series.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series double-duty drivers swept the top three positions, as Edwards finished second and NASCAR Nationwide Series points leader Brad Keselowski was third. Edwards moved up one spot in the standings to second, and is 272 points behind Keselowski.

Gaughan finished fourth, with Reed Sorenson fifth. Rounding out the top 10 were Steve Wallace, Scott Wimmer, Justin Allgaier, Scott Riggs and Raybestos Rookie Colin Braun.

Logano claims 10th career Nationwide pole

Joey Logano will start on the pole for Sunday’s O'Reilly Auto Parts 300 Nationwide race at Texas Motor Speedway. He ran the fastest lap of 29.085 seconds, 185.663 mph in the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota during Friday’s qualifying session.

This is Logano’s 10th pole in 47 Nationwide Series starts. It marks his third pole in 2010.

Clint Bowyer, stepping into the No. 21 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet for John Wes Townley, will start on the outside pole.

Greg Biffle, driving for Baker Curb Racing, spun out during qualifying. He will start from the 42nd position.

Roush-Fenway driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was the fastest qualifying rookie and will start fifth.

Because of rain Saturday, the O'Reilly Auto Parts 300 was postponed to Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2 following the conclusion of the Samsung Mobile 500 Sprint Cup race.

The Lugnut Report: Joey Logano's Quiet Day Leads to Second Place Finish

Joey Logano has only had two starts at Martinsville Speedway, and the rookie no more 19 year old is showing steady improvements.

Monday's Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500 was absolutely one of those days.

Logano was barely noticable during the first 300 laps of the race, steadily and quietly battling his way through the top ten.

The Home Depot driver failed to crack the top five, and seemed to be stuck racing for positions sixth through eighth. It was only until six laps until the finish that Logano made his way into the fifth position.

Then things began to get interesting.

Logano's teammate Denny Hamlin made a pit stop from the lead on lap 493. After the lap 496 restart and following caution, Hamlin was counting on his young teammate to let him down to the bottom line so he could charge to the front.

Logano made a hole for Hamlin in front of him and behind the No. 17 of Matt Kenseth. The No. 20 Home Depot Toyota followed his teammate and kept former seven time Martinsville winner Jeff Gordon at bay. While Hamlin would drive his way to Victory Lane, Logano basked in the glory of his second place finish.

"That was awesome!" Logano exclaimed about the green white checkered finish. "That was really cool, and the big deal for me with the Home Depot Toyota was starting on the bottom.

"It was kind of beating and banging, it was a ton of fun! After the last couple of weeks to get a top five back up here, it's so much fun to race up here."

Later in the media center, the young gun reiterated the excitement of that final restart.

"It was crazy. We knew it was going to be crazy before we went green."

The next time JoLo will be on track is this coming Saturday at Nashville, where he'll compete in the Nationwide Series Nashville 300. You can watch that race beginning at 3:30 PM ET on ESPN.

Logano on pole for Food City 500

Joey Logano captured the first pole of his Sprint Cup career during qualifying for the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The 19-year-old ran a lap of 124.630 mph and time of 15.396 seconds at Friday's session. Currently 14th in the points standings, Logano ranks ahead of his Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Kyle Busch (15th) and Denny Hamlin (22nd).

Kurt Busch has the outside pole, with a lap of 123.857 mph, 15.492 seconds. Busch has five victories at the short track and is looking to capitalize on his win two weeks ago at Atlanta.

After trying for the last four races, Casey Mears qualified on time for his first Sprint Cup event with Keyed-Up Motorsports. Mears will start 34th.

The Food City 500 will be broadcast Sunday at 1 p.m. on FOX. Green flag is scheduled for 1:13 p.m. ET.

Joey "Sliced Bread" Logano Proves He's in the Right Sport

Joey Logano driver of the No.20 Home Depot Toyota earned the nickname,"sliced bread", as in the greatest thing since sliced bread.


He had one rain shortened win last year at New Hampshire Motor Speedway; the Lennox Industrial Tools 301, at the young age of 19. He became the youngest driver to win in the Sprint Cup series.The same age as myself. Last year Logano finished 20th in the final standing of the 2009 season. Not surprising for a rookie, but still, "sliced bread," had to prove himself.

So then comes the 2010 Sprint Cup season and comes a ready to win Joey Logano. Last year,"Sliced Bread," finished 43rd at the Daytona 500 due to an accident. This year a decent 20th finish for Joey. It wasn't unexpected, but it also wasn't exactly what Logano fans wanted to see at the beginning of the season.


Moving on to Fontana, he finished 26th in 2009. In 2010 a very promising 5th place finish. When Joey Logano got out of that car a smile as big as the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland. He was happy and that is exactly how a young'un should look!

Then we moved to the third race at Las Vegas where Joey finished 13th last year and this year finished another promising 6th place, and once again got out of that No.20 Home Depot Toyota smiling.

He say's he is having a blast this year and can not wait for the rest of the season to take place. He has gone a long way from 32nd in the points at this time last year to a promising 8th so far this year. Joey Logano was definitely my suprise star during the Shelby American as well as the Auto Club 500.

All I can say is Joey,"Sliced Bread," Logano is on fire and was bred to be a racecar driver!
