Lindi's 2010 Championship Picks

For our team of contributors the off season is just too long. To pass the time and gear up for the season opener at Dayton each member of the Skirts and Scuffs team is making their pick for Series Champion in each of the top three series. Today Lindi shares her predictions for 2010. Let her know what you think of her picks in the comments below.

Sprint Cup Series - JIMMIE JOHNSON
What can I say about Jimmie Johnson? His stats speak for him. With no changes, and frankly why would they, I think Jimmie and Chad have it in them to take a 5th Sprint Cup Championship. Although I'm sure he'll have plenty of competition with drivers like Denny Hamlin and his teammates. Not too mention Kyle Busch, who will be giving his full attention to Sprint Cup, deciding to drive only a partial NNS schedule.

Nationwide Series - BRAD KESELOWSKI

Brad has almost 3 years under his belt in the NNS. In the last two years Brad has made huge strides. With a new team and a new car, it's gonna be a tough year for Brad K. But with up-and-coming Crew Chief Paul Wolfe, I think Brad can pull a championship out in 2010. It's going to be exciting to see if this number 22 car find its way to the finish line, but I see a hunger in Brad Keselowski that I haven't seen in other drivers. Leaving JR Motorsports behind and building a team with Penske will show us a more mature driver in 2010.

Camping World Truck Series - JUSTIN LOFTON

Going with the rookie this year for CWTS. Justin Lofton had a great season in the Arca/Remax Series, walking away with the championship. It'll be exciting to see what he can do with Red Horse Racing in the Camping World Truck Series driving the #7 Toyota. With Red Horse and Lofton Cattle as sponsors he can run a full schedule in the series. Originally, he'd wanted to drive in the Nationwide Series but could only pick up sponsors for up to 15 races. An added bonus with driving a full-time Truck Schedule is that he'll be up for the Rookie of the Year honors. The #7 will have Mark Rette as his Crew Chief. In the 2009 season they earned five pole awards, six race wins, and led the series with 15 top-five and 19 top-10 finishes throughout the 21-race schedule. The same CC that helped Lofton bring home the 2009 Arca/Remax Championship, Mark Rette has made appearances in Victory Lane with drivers like Tony Stewart, Juan Pablo Montoya, Dale Jr., and Casey Mears.
I believe that the 2010 Nascar Season in will be one of the most exciting seasons in Nascar History. I can't wait for the season to begin.

  1. I almost picked JJ. As much as I dislike him, I think he's got the momentum and he'll be hard to beat.

  2. I think Lofton is a bold choice because of his lack of experience in the truck series. He might prove me wrong. Definitely one to keep an eye on.

  3. I know I've gone out on a limb with Justin, but they gotta start some time. I am looking for him to make strides this season.
