Last week news began swirling that Miccosukee Indian Resort and Gaming might be leaving NASCAR. Today the news was confirmed, at least partially, that the sponsor would not be back for 2010.
Miccosukee had previously penned deals with James Finch’s Phoenix Racing and Kyle Busch Motorsports to be the primary sponsor for several events throughout the 2010 season.
On Thursday evening Lee Spencer of FoxSports confirmed that Miccosukee would not be sponsoring Finch’s team. Though news is still pending on the whether or not Kyle Busch will have sponsorship from the resort, he does have a backup plan in place should the deal fall through. Given Finch’s response to the news it seems that the official announcement is just around the corner. This leaves many wondering if Busch will be able to field two full time teams in KBM’s inaugural season
In 2009 Miccosukee went to victory lane in all three of NASCAR’s top series. Brad Keselwoski snuck by the competition at Talladega to earn his first Sprint Cup Series victory in April. Mike Bliss drove the #1 to victory in the rain shortened Nationwide race at Charlotte in May edging out defending race winner Kyle Busch. Busch put the #51 Miccosukee Tundra in victory lane seven times in just 15 races.
Sounds like money well spent to me.
